InfinIT Online Backups (IOB) allows you to securely backup your important information to a solid offsite environment. Each days backup will be stored on 2 mirrored web servers. Each server has the latest RAID technology to ensure that your data is safe. One of these servers would be enough to ensure this. We’re putting your information on 2!

What about the privacy of my information?

We’ve all got private files that we don’t want just anybody to see.

With InfinIT Online Backups (IOB) your info is fully encrypted. Both when it is transferred to our server AND while it is being stored. Without your Encryption Key nobody can read or see any of your data. Even we cannot see it. So NEVER, EVER lose your Encryption key if you don’t want us to store it.

Your info is transferred over a 128 bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) connection and encrypted on the server using 448 bit Blowfish encryption.

What about your Backup Software? Is it any good?

InfinIT Online Backups (IOB) uses the best backup software out there – Attix 5. They have been providing their services to corporates for over 7 years now. They backup some of the biggest companies out there: Pfizer, Internet Solutions, MWeb, Pastel and many more.

What about my Bandwidth costs? Won’t it cost a lot to back up all my info?

There’s no question: The cost of bandwidth in South Africa is very high at the moment.

So that’s why we have done 2 things to help you with this:

After your first backup all backups are incremental. This means that the InfinIT Online Backups (IOB) software checks on your computer which files have changed and what information in those files have specifically changed. And then only uploads those specific changes. For example: You have a Word doc that is very big (say 3 MB) and you add one word to it. At your next backup ONLY that one word will be uploaded NOT the whole 3 MB file

For your initial backup we will give you a large enough bandwidth allocation at a ridiculously low price, just for you your backup.  Alternatively we will collect your data and back it up to a memory stick to load on our servers for a nominal fee.

What happens if I overwrite an important file on my computer?

We keep copies of all your daily backups on the server. So you can simply login and retrieve the backed up copy from yesterday. Or a week ago. With infinIT Online Backups your information is safe!
